Preparing Yourself for the Height of Autumn

Tips No Comments

As you’ll no doubt be all too aware, autumn is well and truly upon us. The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting chillier and the clocks are about to go back… so there’s no denying it! With the drastically changing season comes a different driving tact; no longer can we enjoy the more sunny, bright driving days of the summer of yore…

When conducting our car body repairs in Wimbledon, we realise that there are certain aspects of your car that many don’t seem to stay on top of. It is absolutely essential to make sure your car is up to scratch and prepared before you take to the road. Not only is it dangerous, but you could be left stranded out in the middle of nowhere without the necessary equipment. So…

Check Your Battery

Battery use goes up in the cooler months, so make sure that you stay on top of it! Low batteries are the most common cause of breakdowns at this point in the year, so don’t become part of the statistic; it’s as simple as keeping yourself aware! If you have a battery in excess of 5 years old then you could be in for trouble if you don’t give yourself a contingency plan and get it fixed.

Check Your Bulbs

This time of year is not the part of the year where you want your bulbs to run out. You should check your bulbs at least once a week to make sure that they are still in working order. Many people forget to check their brake lights, as well as the number plate lights, so make sure that you keep on top of these.

Check Your Tyres

When checking your tyres it’s important to consider everything from their pressure to their condition and tread depth. As well as checking the state of your current tyres, it is important to make sure that you have a spare set before the chillier climate decides to fully rear its head.

When completing all of the above, make sure you consider to stock your car up with all the essentials that will keep your trusty steed going throughout the colder months; de-icer, windscreen liquid, tow rope, etc. You certainly don’t want to get caught out in the big wide open without the basics.

This time of year can be very problematic when it comes to accidents and dinks, so make sure you keep extra vigilant as the low light sets in and the road conditions become a little less predictable. If, however, you find yourself with a dint or scratches, you can rely on our trusty team of professionals to help sort you and your car out. So get in touch! You can contact us on 07732 542 500, where we are eager to get your car back in tip-top condition; particularly with winter just around the corner!
