Top Causes of Driving Accidents: Part 2

car body repairs, General No Comments

Following our earlier post, we feel it’s important to raise an awareness of what exactly is causing automobile accidents to happen and how to prevent them. Whether it’s because of a fault with the car or due to careless driving, it’s vital to stay safe on the roads, especially if you can prevent the accident from happening!

Speeding

Speed limits are in place for a reason, but some people think they can push it. It doesn’t matter how good a driver you are, anyone can be involved in a car collision when they least expect it.

Not only do speed signs act as a warning for roads that require more diligence, but they also accommodate for the time it takes for your car to come to a halt after you’ve applied your brakes.

The impact of a crash from a high speed car can be extremely powerful; itcan completely total a car, not to mention being potentially fatal to passengers.

Ice

Road maintenance will often try and salt the roads before heavy traffic builds up, but ice can sometimes be deceiving. Black ice is the most common cause of accidents in the winter months because the ice blends in with the road.

Cars can spin out of control on ice, and there isn’t a lot you can do once your wheels lose their grip. Take it slow and be extra cautious when it’s been a frosty night.

Tiredness

Driving requires a lot of concentration, so if your focus is compromised by fatigue then this could be putting you in danger behind the wheel. Even though it may be a short distance drive, it only takes a few seconds after closing your eyes for an accident to happen.

If ever your eyelids begin to droop and you’re yawning regularly then it would be a good idea to safely pull over and give yourself a rest. If time is of the essence and you’re driving to work, then ensure you get a good sleep the night before.
