The Most Common Causes of Car Scratches

Cars No Comments

As a company that offers a car scratch repairs London service, we see our fair share of car scratches on a daily basis. From small, light scratches, to long and deep ones, there are plenty of ways a pristine car can lose its sheen simply from becoming scratched.

Accidents

We’ll start with the most obvious cause. Accidents are nearly always the reason why vehicles manage to sustain dents and scratches. Whilst some are hardly noticeable, others can end up being an eyesore and seriously detract from the overall aesthetic quality of the vehicle. Unfortunately, accidents can happen to even the safest of drivers, meaning even those who have always made an effort to keep their car well maintained are at risk of scratches and dents.

Rocks and pebbles

If you live in a more rural area, or you have a gravel driveway, you could find that rocks and pebbles are the cause of a vehicle scratch. One of the most common occurrences is when there is loose tarmac on the road. A small piece of tarmac or gravel can easily get whipped up by the wheels of the car in front and make contact with your car. That contact could lead to your car becoming grazed and scratched, and although they rarely cause significant damage, over time the marks on your vehicle could add up.

Minor collisions whilst reversing

Nobody is the perfect driver, and from time to time our concentration may start to waver, causing us to be involved in a minor collision. Some of the most common collisions occur in car parks, where someone may accidentally reverse into a post or another object. Occasionally drivers will reverse into another vehicle or even a tree. It can even happen in your own driveway if someone has left an object in the way. Ultimately, rear scratches on a vehicle are remarkably common simply because no matter how careful we are, there will be a time when there’s something in our blind spot just waiting to cause scratches to our vehicle.
